Program permission: | Enrollment of students at the second level of academic higher education (master's programs) is carried out on the basis of the results of the unified master's exams or in accordance with the order of the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia No. 224/N (December 29, 2011), successful passing of exams in the English language B/2 (written) and specialty (oral) as well as administrative registration and the order of the presidents. |
Program goals: | The program aims at training a proficient individual, equipped with the requisite competencies and practical aptitudes indispensable for organizing and executing archaeological expeditions. The achievement of the set goal is served by the formation of research and practical skills appropriate for the level of master's education, which is ensured by the synthesis of the modern, time-oriented theoretical and practical courses of the program. Competencies developed within the program give the graduate the opportunity to be employed in scientific-research institutes, archaeological expeditions, the National Agency for Cultural Heritage Protection, museums or other public and/or private structures and non-governmental organizations working on cultural heritage issues. The master’s Program in Archeology provides training in accordance with modern standards of archaeological research and preparation of a competitive professional with a broad and thorough knowledge of the field. The program's flexibility, encompassing specialized modules such as Stone and Bronze Age, Ancient Era, Chalcolithic, and Neolithic, augments the master's students' expertise in their chosen domains. The academic resources and training components entwined within the curriculum further paves the way for postgraduate scholars to embark on advanced studies at the doctoral level, either within their chosen discipline or in adjacent fields like cultural heritage management, paleontology, or anthropology. |

Teaching Process Characteristics: | In order to obtain the academic degree of Master in Archeology, the student needs to accumulate 120 ECTS, which comprises the main subjects of the program - 66 ECTS (including the obligatory archaeological practice), the completion of the Master's thesis (30 ECTS), and the optional modules of the specialization (Stone and Bronze Age; or Antiquity; Chalcolithic and Neolithic), in which the student is obliged to take 12 ECTS (subjects defining the specialization) and the elective subjects (12 ECTS). |
