Program permission: Students are admitted to the second level of academic higher education (Masters programs) on the basis of the results of the General Master’s Exams or by the order #224/ნ (December 29, 2011) of the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, in the English language (written, where the level of English will be determined as B2) and in the specialty (oral) exam on the basis of successful completion, administrative registration and upon the order of the presidents.
Program goals:

The objective of the program is to produce modern, competitive, high-ranking specialists (programmers, consultants/system analysts, and IT managers) for both the local and global markets, who will create and develop technological solutions - information systems and services based on blockchain technologies - aimed at addressing contemporary challenges in the context of the fourth industrial revolution and crypto-economy. The program focuses on creating a training program in line with market demands through the formation of high-ranking specialists in the field of blockchain technologies, promoting the rapid development of the latest technologies in Georgia and solutions based on them, increasing the export potential of expertise in the field of IT, and establishing Georgia as a regional leader in the global digital community.

Graduates can be employed in Georgia and abroad in the IT field, in the public or private sector, as high-ranking specialists. Also, they can create their own startups or continue their studies in doctoral studies.

Learning outcomes:
Knowledge and understanding
    • Expertise in blockchain-based decentralized systems, including cryptocurrencies, smart assets, smart contracts, cyber-physical systems, databases, and decentralized systems programming, in the context of the most recent technological trends and contemporary approaches; On the basis of this knowledge, they will have developed a broad, systematic perspective and will be aware of the benefits of blockchain technology, its true potential, potential risks, and opportunity limitation areas;
    • In-depth and systematic knowledge of the methods required for the analysis of the situation, as well as the ability to consciously and appropriately choose the analysis methods that will enable a multifaceted and systematic study of the situation (involved parties, challenges, global and local contexts, etc.);
    • Deep and systematic knowledge of problem analysis methods in order to see and understand the problems related to the specific client in front of him, the given decentralized information solution, decentralized online services or decentralized cyber systems, to select research sources and techniques, identify and prioritize problems;
    • In-depth and systematic knowledge of conducting a blockchain-based project goal analysis to see and understand the realistic goals it faces to solve the problems it faces in a broader context and to correctly identify and prioritize those goals;
    • In-depth and systematic knowledge in the field of innovation development, which aids in comprehending the essential requirements for the development of decentralized information systems, solutions, or services based on new, original concepts, oriented toward contemporary challenges, and competitive on the global market;
    • Taking the broad context into account, deep and systematic knowledge of generating concepts of blockchain-based solutions to develop new, original solutions, identify the big picture of the desired results of the project and be consciously able to select the optimal one among them;
    • In the context of the token economy, a thorough understanding of innovative business models that enables them to comprehend the opportunities and risks that they and/or their client's business or project may confront. Additionally, it will assist in the development of inventive blockchain-based business models based on these opportunities and, if desired, in the planning of successful startups.
    • Taking into account the broad context, deep and systematic knowledge of the methods necessary for the development of blockchain-based business processes, which will allow to understand the needs of the user, the optimal business processes for the given decentralized information system;
    • Taking the broad context into account, deep and systematic knowledge of the IT architecture planning of the blockchain-based information system to understand and adequately select the most optimal option;
    • Expertise in the planning, managing, and monitoring of information systems/services, which enables the candidate to comprehend the optimal methods and select the most appropriate strategies to ensure the successful management of the software code planning, development, testing, and service documentation process in accordance with the user's needs and the project's specific technical and system requirements;
    • Deep and systematic knowledge of databases, as well as software code development (programming) of blockchain-based information systems, which will allow implementation/programming of such systems and monitoring and management of projects of this type;

  • Skills
    • Ability to consistently and clearly formulate and present the necessary information about the progress of the project with project clients or colleagues;
    • Effective written and oral communication skills on any topic, including those related to decentralized systems, using appropriate presentation tools
    • Experience and ability to communicate in both F2F and online, synchronous and asynchronous modes
    • In written communication, the graduate student will be able to use not only the textual format, but also various types of visualization tools (including block diagrams, maps, graphs, and various types of schemes), which will make the information they provide easier to comprehend.
    • Capacity to orient oneself within a broad context, global trends, and a specific situation and to conduct systemic analysis
    • Ability to research problems, goals related to the existing ecosystem and to prioritize them.
    • Ability to choose the optimal blockchain system, consensus and token type for a specific task
    • Practical knowledge of business models, business process analysis, including optimal selection
    • Ability to choose the optimal ways to solve problems, the appropriate IT architecture, taking the available resources and limitations into account
    • On the basis of the analysis of the existing task/order, to identify the necessary information and relevant sources; Also, the ability to assess the reliability and quality of sources;
    • Using various techniques, based on the latest research and also, on the basis of critical analysis and mutual comparison of unreliable (!) and different sources, to maximize the ability to find data, verify information, systematize, represent and draw appropriate conclusions;
    • Ability to draw the most well-reasoned conclusions and create a broad picture of the situation based on the most data, on the one hand - based on the synthesis of reliable information and knowledge, on the other hand - incomplete and often low-quality data, in relation to the organization, system, process; Additionally, the ability to understand the weak and strong points of their conclusions, the degree of solidity of reasoning logic.
    • Capability to formulate independently defensible conclusions based on a critical analysis of complex and incomplete information, including the most recent research, relating to decentralized information systems and blockchain-based solutions;
    • Ability to generate new, innovative ideas based on innovative synthesis of information based on the latest data, drawing correct conclusions about blockchain
    • The ability to prioritize and generate optimal solutions based on the analysis of multiple conditions and factors in a complex environment, while maximizing the use of available resources.

    In the first semester, they are introduced to the context of the global transformations in which they will have to work. Also, fundamental issues related to decentralized systems are deepened in the field of innovative business models, cryptography, databases and practical programming. Within the framework of the second semester, they develop their competence in the direction of both theoretical and practical programming of cryptocurrencies. In addition, they acquire knowledge and practical skills regarding the description, documentation, and redesign of business processes. During the third semester, they gain theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the fields of smart assets and smart contracts, on the one hand, and IT project management, on the other.

    Teaching Process Characteristics:

    120 credits of the program consist of: main part of the program - 90 ECTS, incl. Compulsory subjects 60 ECTS and master's program 30 ECTS. The total number of optional subjects is 114 ECTS, from which the student chooses 30 ECTS.
