Program goals: The curriculum is formulated to help the student develop understanding of self and others, stimulate intellectual curiosity and to develop an ability to work with colleagues to identify and resolve the health problems of individuals and families in a changing society. The professional nurse, while able to assess and intervene where health deviations exist, is committed to the role of maintaining health and preventing illness in self and others. The mail contribution of achieved goal is to support the country's socio - economic sustainability via assisting health care systems reform.Graduates are expected to have acquired foundations for continuing professional development. The competency level of education is the basis to enter further stages for preparation of Leaders or special services provider nurses, with teaching and researcher possibilities. Upon successful completion of the Bachelor Degree in Nursing, the graduate will have the following competencies:

Knowledge and understanding
    • Knowledge of theoretical aspects of nursing;
    • Understanding of interrelations between theoretical aspects of nursing;
    • Knowledge of fundamental principles of health and welfare;
    • Knowledge of social, healthcare and behavioral sciences;
    • Knowledge of all stages of nursing intervention (prevention, diagnostics, treatment, rehabilitation and paleatic intervention) and their alternative versions;
    • Understanding nurse’s functions and responsibilities, his/her role in the policy, system and functions of health and social care;
    • Knowledge of contemporary medical technologies and methods;
    • Knowledge of the research principles relevant to the target sphere;
    • Understanding of the necessity to deliver complete, unbiased and timely information to the patient.
    • Understanding of the impact of political and social contexts on the provision of health care;

    • Skills
    • assess the patient’s state based on the situation analysis within professional competence and rights, particularly, the ability to identify the patient’s needs, carry out health risks assessment and complications as well as plan and deliver care; ability to properly plan, implement and deliver effective preventive activities;

    • carry out nursing manipulations;
    • safely use medicines, drugs and other therapeutic means;
    • properly use social, healthcare and behavioral sciences in nursing practice;

    • advocate and respect the patient’s dignity, and keep confidentiality;
    • plan and carry out supervised research relevant to nursing (case-study, experiment, observation); apply research results in practical nursing.

    • retrieve, define, synthesize, and critically analyze data and information requisite to specific problem-solving by standard and specific methods, make evidence-based conclusions within professional competence;
    • analyze the situations associated with various ethical and medical/care issues;
    • critically analyze emergent decisions, situational and thematic issues related to all the spheres of professional activity;
    • make use of technologies requisite to relevant intervention based on the analysis of the situation, etc.

    • communicate orally in several languages (including Georgian) to healthcare professionals and medical personnel the information on the issues related to healthcare system and nursing; design written documents, make presentations and give opposing viewpoints in English;
    • inform and educate both orally and in writing, patients, family members and society at large, including persons with communication disorders;
    • communicate innovations and advancements related to nursing competences in health and welfare, using information and communication technologies, presentations, internet resources;
    • disseminate advancements and innovations related to nursing in digital and printed libraries, journals and internet resources.

    Program details:

    The program has a clinical practice. Practice of credit 90 ECTS

    Teaching Process Characteristics: The length for undergraduate studies is defined as 4 years or 8 terms. University Study Day is divided in lectures (lessons).The lecture consists of several (two, three or four) parts (theoretical part, practical – seminar, lab), each of length - 60 minutes. At the University groups (classes) are formed as from 25 or 50 students. The minimum number of students per group is 10. If during the registration less than 10 students registered, the University reserves the right not to open the group.
