Enrollment of students in the second-level of academic higher education (master's programs) is implemented:

based on the administrative registration and the order of the presidents.

University-defined internal examinations include: written examination in English and oral interview (in English) within the defined topics for the educational program.

Compulsory English language proficiency is defined as B2 level, which can be accomplished alternatively: A) by internal examination, in case of exceeding the threshold of at least 70%; Or B) by presenting a document certifying successful completion of internationally recognized language exams (IELTS, TOEFL, or Cambridge English Exam; IELTS - 5.5-6.5; TOEFL iBT 72-94; Cambridge English Exam - 160-179); or C) based on a document certifying English as the primary language of study at the undergraduate level.

The program will admit individuals with a bachelor's degree in law or an equivalent degree.

If admission to the program is announced, a link will be activated to allow those interested in viewing the English language test samples and interview exam questions.

Program goals:

The aim of the program is to prepare highly-qualified professionals who will have a deep and systematic knowledge of international business law, will be able to critically comprehend it in a coparative perspective, conduct independent research, solve complex legal issues, and conduct additional professional activities independently.

In the wake of the globalization of international business, the program focuses on aspects of its legal regulation. This program contributes to the development of the field and the improvement of legal regulations of the business environment. The program enables graduates to respond to challenges related to the transnational and multidisciplinary context of international business, and current local and international labor market demands.

Graduates will be able to be employed in all positions, taking into account the field of study, where the academic degree of Master of Law is required and it is not necessary to pass the state certification exam. As a result of developing research skills, graduates will be able to continue their studies at the doctoral level.

The goal of the program is to create an educational platform that will unite both local and international students and professionals.

Knowledge and understanding
  • Graduate of the program:

    • describes the modern regulation of international business, which includes both international and national law and their interrelationship, trends in the development of legislation, challenges and shortcomings, the main ways of their improvement and resolution, the latest important judicial practice, on the basis of which the graduate student will be able to solve practical problems; 
    • describes current problems of legal science, modern field methods of scientific research, rules of academic honesty and issues of academic ethics. Also, the basic rules and principles of creating professional scientific texts; 
    • describes the rules of judicial ethics, including the issues of communication of the judge with the public and the peculiarities of the disciplinary proceedings of judges; 
    • defines the essence of comparative law and the purpose of using the comparative legal method, including explaining the importance of the influence of EU law on the development of Georgian law.

  • Skills
  • Graduate of the program:

    • evaluates the factual circumstances of a legal case, identifies complex legal problems or legal gaps in the field of business law and, based on professional interpretation, synthesis and analysis of legally significant information (legislation and legislative news, judicial practice, dogmatics and the latest scientific views), formulates original ways of solving them, including, determines the positive and negative consequences related to the decision;
    • identifies legal risks related to international business, determines the necessary measures to eliminate or reduce them, determines ways to resolve legal disputes and provides appropriate legal advice;
    • interprets and, using legal writing techniques, prepares and/or amends legal and other professional documents, including contracts, case summaries, legal opinions and conclusions; 
    • identifies an actual legal problem in the field of business law, develops scientific ways to solve it, plans a scientific-research process on actual issues of law, conducts research using the latest methods and approaches from various sources, including foreign legal information resources, systematizes primary data, complex or incomplete information. Develops a scientific research project/paper in compliance with academic ethics standards;
    • communicates in writing and orally about the results, conclusions and arguments of one's own research to the academic, complex and professional community, observing the principles of academic integrity.

  • Responsibility and autonomy
  • Graduate of the program:

    • Determines and plans future studies independently, accepts responsibility for one's own and others' activities and professional development, and creates conditions for a common team decision;
    • Receives guidance on how to manage complex, unpredictable, or multidisciplinary materials or environments. Among other things, plans and manages working time, and develops a research strategy for preparing a paper;
    • Participates in the development of professional knowledge and legal practice, uses strategic approaches and / or innovative ways of problem solving, assists colleagues and shares own experience with them;
    • Respects the standards of judicial ethics, aspects of the judge's values (impartiality, inviolability, equality, competence, and diligence) and, if necessary, participates in the development of these values to ensure a fair balance between the interests of the parties; 
    • Recognizes and respects the rules of academic integrity, ethical results of scientific research;
    • Expresses respect for democratic values, recognizes the need for a balance between freedom and responsibility in a democracy.

    Program details:

    The program consists entirely of 120 credits, which are divided into the core (72 credits) and elective components of the program (48 credits). The main component of the program includes:

    • Three studying courses in the field of education;
    • Three studying courses focused on the development of legal, academic research, and writing skills;
    • Master's thesis;
    • Law Clinic.

    The program's elective component consists of 144-credit study courses from which the student selects the courses he or she prefers.

    A student will be admitted to defend his / her master's thesis if one has accumulated at least 84 credits in total. The performance of a master's thesis in a law school is regulated by the relevant regulations.

    Teaching Process Characteristics:

    The study process includes weekly meetings (lecture / seminar, etc.) lasting 2 academic hours (hours - 60 minutes).

    There are a maximum of 25 students in the group.
