Program details: | The program consists of 120 ECTS, out of which 66 are mandatory courses and 30 thesis. 24 ECTS can be accumulated from program electives or other courses available through other MA programs (respective of pre-requisites). |
Teaching Process Characteristics: | The course has a taught and a research component. It may be taken on a full-time or part-time basis. The taught component comprises of 11 core and 4 elective modules each 6 ECTS. The dissertation semester is research-based. The full-time, two years option requires students to complete the taught modules in three semesters, five modules each and a research-based dissertation in the fourth semester. The part-time option allows students to undertake the taught component over a two and a half year period, with a minimum of three modules in a semester. This is followed by a semester long research component. Each module generally requires students to attend classes on a weekly basis: one meeting a week in each module. Every session consists of two 60 minute classes. Some courses might be offered in a more intensive manner: daily during two weeks. Independent learning, at personal as well as group/collaborative level is actively encouraged. The transfer of knowledge into practical competences and vice versa is achieved by bringing real-life problems into training discussions which are then lead to solutions. In addition at least once in a semester, with pre-determined schedule, students will visit one of the following organizations: the ministry of education and science of Georgia, organizations that operate under the Ministry, higher education institutions, schools, non-governmental organizations or other. The aim of the visit is to get the knowledge about the practical implementation of education management issues in each type of educational institution. On the seminar to follow the visit, students will offer their vision regarding the existing management drawbacks in the host institution and possible solutions to them. The seminar reports will be based on the models taught in the core courses of the relevant semester. The classes consist from the small groups of students, which allow professors to devote more time to individual work with them. Moreover academic support is provided to students, through the consultations. In addition to the regular lectures for the modules, there could be short presentations or seminars by visiting scholars. Students are advised to participate in all sessions organized by the faculty. Students are also encourage to organize their own presentations among the group. If you require any help, you are encouraged to contact the program coordinators at UG. |
