Program permission: To be accepted as a Ph.D. fellow, one should have a Master's Degree or equivalent in a wide field of Pharmacy or other related fields. Applicant should present written Research Concepts related to announced research topics and an English language knowledge certificate at B2 level at least. A Scientific Board makes decisions considering written and oral reports presented by the candidate and judging conformity with candidates' research skills and the School's research priorities and resources
Program goals:

The goal is to provide outstanding graduate education in Pharmaceutical chemistry through multidisciplinary training in synthetic organic chemistry, natural products, drug design, molecular metabolism and chemical toxicology, and mechanisms of drug action in preparation for careers in industry, government, or institutions of higher learning.

Program graduates will be able to work in pharmacy companies, drug manufacturing and marketing companies, health departments, laboratories, research organizations (CSIR), biotechnological firms, pest control departments, and defense services.

Learning outcomes:
Knowledge and understanding
    • Systemic knowledge of advanced skills, essential in quality control, drug discovery, drug design, high-quality pharmaceutical products, medicinal chemistry, pharmacology, and modern analytical techniques.
    • Systemic knowledge of quality control, separation techniques, and the research environments.
    • Systemic knowledge of essentials in the development of scientific papers/projects according to advanced requirements, active teaching strategies, and pedagogical communication.
    • Systemic knowledge in drug synthesis, drug testing, drug development, and the validation of analytical methods.

  • Skills
    • The students are skilled with extensive theoretical and practical knowledge about the various aspects of the analysis of drugs, In-vitro evaluation of different conventional and advanced drug delivery systems like tablets, capsules, etc. according to the guidelines, modern analytical techniques which are used in quantitative and qualitative analysis, synthesis of critical medicinal agents, isolation of compounds from plant origin.
    • Discuss examples of pharmaceutical drug discovery in detail, and relate patterns and lessons from the discovery of these examples
    • Describe the current challenges and opportunities in medicinal chemistry in light of contemporary developments in the field of drug discovery
    • Design a synthetic route for complex molecular targets

  • Responsibility and autonomy
    • Demonstrate in international referenced sources and to global professional scientific and wide society and supervise new ideas constructed on evidence system, and derived from scientific research in public health respecting the professional integrity, copyright and ethical issues.

    Program details:

    Once in year University's Scientific Board announces research topics in different fields of Medicinal Chemistry, which correspond to the interests of the School. Candidate will be interviewed by the Scientific Board. Candidate should present clearly his/her view of research topics and show appropriate research and communication skills.

    The number of pages of the thesis is determined by not less than 70 and not more than 80 pages. (17,500-20,000 words)

    Teaching Process Characteristics:

    In order to obtain a PhD degree, a student must

    • complete 60 ECTS, which includes 40 ECTS from mandatory subjects and 20 ECTS from elective.
    • publish two scientific publications related to the reserarch topic in refereed/reviewed journals, including at least one in a journal with a positive impact factor indexed in Clarivate Analytics Web of Science;
    • present at least one conference report (oral) at an international scientific conference.
