Program permission: Enrollment of students at the first level of academic higher education (undergraduate programs) is carried out based on the results of the unified national exams or the order of the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia No. 224/N (December 29, 2011), passing administrative registration and the order of the university presidents. It is possible to enroll in the program on a rolling basis twice a year; Enrollment or mobility in the program is possible from a recognized higher educational institution of a foreign country in accordance with the order of the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia.
Program goals:

The purpose of the program is to train a highly qualified specialist in the sciences of history, to equip a student with a broad knowledge of history of Georgia and world history from ancient times to modern times, considering socio-political, economic, legal and cultural aspects; to develop the skills of applying relevant research methodology and methods; to mold a citizen with high social awareness and democratic values being ready to understand and respect different cultures; to shape a flexible individual with analytical, critical and communication skills requisite for a knowledge-based society. A bachelor of history will be able to pursue his/her studies at the second level - a master's degree and/or get employed in almost all fields related to service and communication: public service, local, regional administrations, international and non-governmental organizations relevant to the field, the Institute of History and Ethnology, archives, museums, tourism and general education (private and public schools), National Agency for Cultural Heritage Protection, National Center for Manuscripts.

Teaching Process Characteristics:

To obtain the academic degree of Bachelor of History, a student needs to accumulate 240 credits comprising:

  • Core courses of the program – 132 (including concentration - Georgian/world history - 12 ECTS and English language B 2/2 - 6 ECTS);
  • Elective courses of the program - 12 ECTS;
  • University compulsory-elective courses - 18 ECTS (6 ECTS from the social/humanitarian block and 12 ECTS from the STEAM block);
  • Free credit - 18 ECTS and
  • 60 ECTS in a minor specialty.
